Living Layers di Valentina Vannicola è una serie fotografica in sei scatti che coniuga costanti rimandi letterari e cinematografici e che vede la partecipazione di persone comuni, abitanti – attori della vita di tutti i giorni, coinvolti e resi protagonisti dell’opera d’arte.
Questa nuova serie fotografica di Valentina Vannicola sviluppata per Wunderkammern rappresenta una svolta importante rispetto ai lavori precedenti: le molteplici possibilità di lettura offerte dai Living Layers del territorio, hanno portato l’artista ad astrarre la città dal tempo presente per portarla nel tempo sospeso di un universo parallelo.
Living Layers è un progetto a cura di Wunderkammern in collaborazione con il MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma – che intende attivare letture del territorio e leggerne il patrimonio immateriale, il Living Heritage (UNESCO, 2003) con le pratiche, rappresentazioni, espressioni, conoscenze e saperi che la comunità riconosce come facenti parte del proprio patrimonio culturale.
Fotografa ma anche regista, scenografa e costumista, Valentina Vannicola (Tolfa (VT) 1982) espone nel Settembre 2011 il suo ultimo lavoro L’Inferno di Dante, a cura di Benedetta Cestelli Guidi, alla X edizione di FotoGrafia – Festival Internazionale di Roma, presso il MACRO Testaccio e partecipa con la serie dedicata a La principessa sul pisello alla mostra Characters presso la Wunderkammern (Roma). Nel 2012 ha preso parte al progetto Pink Vision – Art Science and Bricks per Vision Lab/Triennale di Milano; ha esposto inoltre presso il Mia Art Fair (MI) con la bicigi photography e al Citerna Fotografia, Festival d’arte fotografica.
Living Layers by Valentina Vannicola is a series of six photographs that constantly combine literature and cinematographic references with the participation of ordinary people, everyday inhabitants-actors who are drawn in, becoming protagonists in the work of art. Valentina Vannicola’s new works for Wunderkammern represent a significant turning point for the artist: Living Layers, with its manifold means of interpreting a territory, has led the artist to abstract the city from its present day existence, taking it into the suspended time of a parallel universe.
Living Layers is a project curated by Wunderkammern in collaboration with MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma – that seeks to stimulate interpretations of the territory and it Living Heritage (UNESCO 2003) composed of those practices, representations, expressions, learning and knowledge that the community recognises as part of its own living cultural heritage.
Photographer, but also director, costume and set designer, Valentina Vannicola (born in Tolfa (VT) 1982) Valentina vannicola exhibited in September 2011 her latest work L’Inferno di Dante (Dante’s Hell) at the 10th edition of FotoGrafia – Festival Internazionale di Roma, at the MACRO in Testaccio and she took part in the exhibition Characters at the Wunderkammern (Rome), with the series dedicated to La principessa sul pisello (The princess and the pea). In 2012, she took part in the project Pink Vision – Art Science and Bricks for Vision Lab/Triennale in Milan; she also exhibited at the Mia Art Fair (Milan) with bicigi photography and at Citerna Fotografia, Festival d’arte fotografica.
